MOE publishes secondary school enrolment in Singapore broken down by level and course in an annual CSV series. Secondary Enrolment by Level and Course captures Express, Normal Academic, Normal Technical, and related pathways with notes on merged streams and specialised schools. Education researchers modelling cohort flows can account for lateral transfers described officially. Long coverage from 1980 supports historical comparisons of Singapore secondary participation.
Official description
As cohorts progress over the years, the numbers across courses may fluctuate as students have opportunities to transfer laterally across courses.
1) Special and Express streams have been merged since the 2008 Secondary 1 cohort.
2) Normal (Tech) figures include students in Specialised Schools. These students are taking the ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) course or in a 2-year
work-study programme after completing ISC.
