Incidence of Retrenchment by Industry and Occupational Group, Annual
Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Labour Market Survey open data publishes annual incidence of retrenchment by industry and occupational group in Singapore. Retrenchment incidence is retrenched employees per 1,000 employees, covering permanent redundancies and early termination of term contracts for redundancy. Survey coverage expanded in 2006 to include the public sector alongside large private establishments. Researchers studying cyclical labour-market stress can compare industry-level rates within the catalogued 1998–2022 window.

Source: Labour Market Survey, Manpower Research & Statistics Department, MOM Incidence of retrenchment refers to the number of retrenched employees per 1,000 employees. Retrenchment refers to the termination of permanent employees due to redundancy and early termination of term contract employees due to redundancy. Before 2006, the Labour Market Survey covers private sector establishments each with at least 25 employees. From 2006 onwards, the survey also covers the public sector. Figures are rounded to one decimal place.
