Office of the Public Guardian (Indicators of Activities - LPAs)
Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) open data through the Office of the Public Guardian summarises Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) activity indicators in Singapore. CSV datasets cover donor–donee relationships, donors by age group and gender, and number of LPAs registered from 2011 through 2021. Aging and legal capacity researchers can study uptake of advance planning instruments using published registration statistics. Indicators reflect registered LPAs under MSF’s public guardian framework, not clinical capacity assessments.
Official description
The Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document which allows a person who is at least 21 years of age ('donor') to voluntarily appoint one or more persons ('donee(s)') to make decisions and act on his behalf should he lose mental capacity one day.
A registered LPA should only be used when the donor loses mental capacity and has been certified to be incapable of managing his own affairs.
