Sample Household Survey: Labour Force Participation Rate for HDB Resident Population, by Ethnic Group and Flat Type
Housing & Development Board (HDB) publishes labour force participation rates for HDB resident populations from the Sample Household Survey conducted every five years. Separate CSV datasets break results by ethnic group and by flat type for residents aged 15 and above from 2008 through 2018. HDB residents are Singapore citizens and permanent residents in public housing, excluding subtenants. Urban and social researchers can study how housing type and ethnicity relate to economic activity in Singapore’s heartlands.
Official description
Data is derived from the Sample Household Survey (SHS) which is conducted once every 5 years. Data is based on HDB resident population aged 15 years and above.
HDB resident population refers to Singapore citizens and Singapore permanent residents (SPRs) residing in HDB flats, excluding subtenants.
Labour force participation refers to persons who are economically active and
aged 15 years and over, either employed or unemployed during the survey
period.
