Hexagonal grids of radius 1000m
Description
Urban Redevelopment Authority GeoJSON of regular hexagonal grid cells with a 1,000-metre radius covering mainland Singapore. URA created hexagon grids at several sizes, from 20 metres up to 1,000 metres, so that point and polygon data can be aggregated into consistent spatial units. Analysts use the 1,000-metre grid for coarse islandwide heat maps and for comparing indicators across datasets without planning-area boundary bias. Coverage is dated January 2025.
Official description
To facilitate the aggregation of geospatial data and create smoother visualisation maps for planning-related analytics and metrics, Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) created regular hexagon grids of multiple grid sizes (from 20m to 1000m radius) centred on the mainland area of Singapore. These grids are intended to support various scenarios in planning / research studies, etc. and enable consistent comparison of aggregated data across different datasets.
