Hexagonal grids of radius 500m
Description
Urban Redevelopment Authority GeoJSON of regular hexagonal cells with a 500-metre radius, centred over Singapore’s mainland area. The grid provides a common geography for aggregating points and other spatial observations, producing smoother thematic maps, and comparing indicators consistently across datasets. Planners, researchers, and GIS developers can use cell identifiers and geometry for accessibility, population, land-use, mobility, environmental, and service-coverage analysis without relying on administrative boundaries.
Official description
To facilitate the aggregation of geospatial data and create smoother visualisation maps for planning-related analytics and metrics, Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) created regular hexagon grids of multiple grid sizes (from 20m to 1000m radius) centred on the mainland area of Singapore. These grids are intended to support various scenarios in planning / research studies, etc. and enable consistent comparison of aggregated data across different datasets.
