Master Plan 1998 Planning Area Boundary (No Sea)
Description
Urban Redevelopment Authority GeoJSON boundaries of Singapore's planning areas under the Master Plan 1998, with sea areas excluded. URA divides Singapore into regions, planning areas, and subzones for urban planning; each planning area holds roughly 150,000 residents and is served by a town centre and several neighbourhood commercial or shopping centres. Because the plan guided development over a 10 to 15 year horizon, some boundaries may not coincide with existing developments. Planners, GIS analysts, and researchers use the layer to compare historical planning geographies with later Master Plan editions, or to aggregate demographic and property data by 1998 planning area.

Indicative polygon of planning area boundary. To facilitate urban planning, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) divides Singapore into regions, planning areas and subzones. The Planning Regions are divided into smaller Planning Areas. Each Planning Area have a population of about 150,000 and served by a town centre and several neighbourhood commercial/shopping centres. The Master Plan 1998 is a forward looking guiding plan for Singapore's development in the medium term over the next 10 to 15 years and the planning boundaries may not coincide with existing developments for some areas.
