Description
Monitor class counts and average class sizes across Singapore education levels from 1982 to 2025 with Ministry of Education data on form classes. Fields include year, level of education, number of classes, and average class size, reflecting MOE footnotes that subject-level groupings may be smaller. Useful for education policy, schooling capacity, and searches on Singapore class-size trends.
Official description
(1) Class size is the average number of students per class, calculated by dividing the number of students enrolled by the number of classes in that level. The classes here refer to form classes only. The actual class size can be smaller for some subjects and lessons, depending on the learning needs of the students or programme considerations. For instance, levelling up programmes such as the Learning Support Programme for lower primary students, School-based Dyslexia Remediation programme and coursework subjects like Design and Technology at secondary level are conducted in smaller classes. (2) Students in Mixed Level schools are classified according to the level they are in.
