Percentage of P1 Cohort Eligible for Secondary School
Description
Ministry of Education annual series from 2001 showing the percentage of each Primary 1 cohort deemed eligible for secondary school, aligned to cohort progression rules described in the official metadata. Education researchers can track attainment thresholds and note that the latest three years are preliminary figures.
Official description
(1) For a given year, the statistics are calculated based on the P1 cohort that would typically sit for these exams in that year. For example, for 2023, the percentage of the P1 cohort eligible for secondary school is calculated based on the cohort that entered P1 in 2018, and the percentage of the P1 cohort who achieved Grade D / 5 or better in at least 5 N-Level subjects or Grade C6 or better in at least 3 O-Level subjects is calculated based on the cohort that entered P1 in 2014. (2) Figures for the last three years are preliminary.
