Wind Speed across Singapore
Description
National Environment Agency API feed of wind speed readings from automated weather stations across Singapore, available at one-minute resolution and refreshed every five minutes with coverage from December 2016. Values represent mean wind over a ten-minute period at station level and are published automatically as the instruments generate them, so occasional gaps and later corrections are possible. Developers build live weather dashboards, sailing and outdoor-activity apps, and environmental monitoring tools on the feed. Researchers combine it with rainfall, temperature, and air-quality stations to study microclimate and local wind patterns, bearing in mind that readings can be influenced by nearby obstructions.
Official description
Minute-by-minute wind speed readings at weather-station level, updated every five minutes. These data are collected from automated weather instruments, and is automatically published as soon as it is generated. There could be instances when there are gaps in the data due to technical problems. The data is subject to correction subsequently if necessary. While every effort has been made to site the instruments in relatively unobstructed areas to provide the best possible indication of the general weather conditions, there are times when this is not possible. The readings from the instruments could thus be influenced by local conditions. The wind observations on this page refers to the mean wind over a period of 10 minutes. The data is available at 1-minute resolution.
