Teachers In Schools - Secondary Schools

Description

This Ministry of Education dataset counts teachers in Singapore's secondary schools from 1981 to 2024, broken down by sex and school type. Each row combines a year, sex and school type with the number of secondary school teachers, allowing users to trace both the overall growth of the teaching force and the long-standing gender composition of the profession. Counts are taken as at 31 December each year, except before 1996 when they refer to June, a break users should keep in mind when comparing across that boundary. Education researchers, unions and workforce planners use the series to study teacher supply, pupil-teacher ratios and staffing patterns across school types in Singapore.

Official description

(1) Teacher data is correct as at 31 December in each year (Prior to 1996, data is correct as at June in each year).
