Number of active employers as at end of quarter
Description
Central Provident Fund Board CSV of the number of active employers in Singapore as at the end of each quarter, with 89 rows covering the first quarter of 2004 to the first quarter of 2026. The definition changed over the series: before the first quarter of 2025 an active employer was one that had paid CPF contributions for the previous month, while from that quarter onwards it refers to registered employers, identified by Unique Entity Number, liable to pay contributions for the current month. Users comparing across the break should note this change. Useful for tracking business activity and formal employment.
Official description
Prior to Q1 2025, active employers refer to employers who had paid CPF contributions for the previous month. With effect from Q1 2025, active employers refer to registered employers (identified by their Unique Entity Number) who are liable to pay CPF contributions for the current month.
