Sample Household Survey: HDB Elderly and Future Elderly Resident Population
Housing & Development Board (HDB) open data derives from the Sample Household Survey (SHS), conducted every five years, focusing on elderly and future-elderly residents in HDB flats. Seven CSV datasets break counts by age, sex, ambulant status, ethnicity, flat type, geography, marital status, and tenure. Policymakers studying ageing-in-place and HDB demographic structure can compare cohorts defined as aged 65+ and 55–64 among citizens and permanent residents. The collection supports Singapore public-housing social planning research.
Official description
Data is derived from the Sample Household Survey (SHS) which is conducted once every 5 years. HDB resident population refers to Singapore citizens and Singapore permanent residents (SPRs) residing in HDB flats. They include owners/co-owners, HDB rental tenants and occupiers. Elderly resident population refers to resident population aged 65 years old and above. Future elderly resident population refers to resident population aged between 55 and 64 years old.
HDB CSV from Sample Household Survey years 2013 through 2018 on elderly and future elderly resident population percentages by age, sex, and elderly cohort definition. Supports silver-generation housing and care planning in Singapore HDB towns.
Housing & Development Board Sample Household Survey CSV from 2008 through 2018 on HDB elderly (65+) and future elderly (55–64) resident population shares by ambulant status. Ageing and housing researchers assess mobility needs among Singapore public-housing residents.
Housing & Development Board CSV from Sample Household Survey years covering elderly and future-elderly HDB resident population by sex and marital status, with percentage shares from 2003 through 2018. Housing and ageing researchers profile marital-status patterns among older HDB residents.
Housing & Development Board table showing how Singapore's elderly and future elderly HDB resident population is distributed across flat types, covering survey years from 2003 to 2018. Each row records the survey (SHS) year, the elderly or future elderly population group, the flat type such as smaller or larger HDB units, and the percentage of that group living in it. Because the values are shares rather than headcounts, the data is best read as a housing profile of ageing residents. Planners, gerontology researchers, and ageing-in-place policy analysts use it to see which flat types older Singaporeans occupy and how that mix has shifted over fifteen years.
Housing & Development Board CSV of elderly and future-elderly resident population by town or estate from Sample Household Survey years spanning 2003 through 2018. Ageing and housing planners map how senior and near-senior HDB residents are distributed across Singapore towns over successive SHS rounds.
Housing & Development Board CSV from the Sample Household Survey years 2003 through 2018 showing percentages of elderly and future elderly HDB resident population by tenure type. Supports ageing-in-place and public housing policy research in Singapore.
HDB survey statistics on elderly residents aged 65 and over and “future elderly” residents aged 55–64, broken down by ethnic group from 2003 through 2018. Published by the Housing & Development Board in CSV format with SHS year, population category, ethnic group, and percentage fields. Supports ageing-in-place planning, ethnic composition analysis in public housing, and research on Singapore’s silver demographic trends in HDB towns.
