2 Year Recidivism Rate

Description

Singapore Prison Service CSV of two-year recidivism rates for local offenders released from SPS custody, covering release cohorts from about 2005 through 2023. Recidivism is the share subsequently detained, imprisoned, or placed on a day reporting order within two years of release; the published definition applies from the 2018 cohort onwards. Columns include year, recidivism rate type, and the two-year rate. Justice researchers monitor rehabilitation outcomes in Singapore’s corrections system.

Official description

Recidivism rate is defined as the percentage of local offenders under the custody of the Singapore Prison Service, who were subsequently detained or sentenced to imprisonment or day reporting order within two years of release into the community. This definition has been applied to the 2018 release cohort onwards.
