5 Year Recidivism Rate
Description
Singapore Prison Service CSV of five-year recidivism rates for local offenders released from SPS custody, covering cohorts from about 2016 through 2020. The rate is the percentage subsequently detained, imprisoned, or placed on a day reporting order within five years of release; the definition applies from the 2018 cohort onwards. Columns cover year, recidivism rate type, and the five-year rate. Longer-horizon justice research compares five-year outcomes with two-year SPS series.
Official description
Recidivism rate is defined as the percentage of local offenders under the custody of the Singapore Prison Service, who were subsequently detained or sentenced to imprisonment or day reporting order within five years of release into the community. This definition has been applied to the 2018 release cohort onwards.
