Description
Measure annual retrenchment incidence in Singapore as retrenched employees per thousand workers from 1998 through 2025. Ministry of Manpower figures from the Labour Market Survey support labour-market stress analysis during economic cycles. Coverage expanded from private establishments with at least 25 employees before 2006 to include the public sector thereafter. Useful for Singapore redundancy-rate research and MOM retrenchment incidence trends.
Official description
Retrenchment refers to the termination of permanent employees due to redundancy and early termination of term contract employees due to redundancy. Incidence of retrenchment refers to the number of retrenched employees per one thousand employees. Source: Labour Market Survey, Manpower Research & Statistics Department, MOM Before 2006, data pertain to private sector establishments (each with at least 25 employees). From 2006 onwards, it also includes the public sector.
