Description
Ministry of Manpower quarterly series of retrenched employees by industry in Singapore, spanning 1998 through 2025 across roughly 4,600 rows of quarter, industry and retrenchment count. Retrenchment covers termination of permanent employees due to redundancy and early termination of term-contract employees for the same reason. Coverage is private sector establishments with at least 25 employees before 2006, and includes the public sector from 2006 onwards. A key indicator for labour market and downturn monitoring.

Retrenchment refers to the termination of permanent employees due to redundancy and early termination of term contract employees due to redundancy. Source: Labour Market Survey, Manpower Research & Statistics Department, MOM Before 2006, data pertain to private sector establishments (each with at least 25 employees). From 2006 onwards, it also includes the public sector.
