Remand Population by Gender

Description

Singapore Prison Service count of the remand population as at 31 December each year from 2007 to 2025, broken down by gender. Remand refers to persons held in custody while their cases are still before the courts, so the series is distinct from the sentenced inmate population. Each row carries the year, the gender category, and the number of persons in that category. Criminal justice researchers, policy analysts, and journalists use the series to track pre-trial detention levels in Singapore and how the male and female remand populations have changed over nearly two decades.
